Texting While Driving Banned in Illinois

The 2010 year has been marked by many states enacting laws to ban the use of cell phones for drivers. Illinois, like many other states, has recently enacted a law regarding the use of electronic communications in vehicles. The Illinois law bans the composition, reading and/or sending of electronic communications while driving. Our technology dependent residents should be aware that sending a text message or reading an e-mail while in the driver's seat can lead to a violation of the law. Traffic tickets can be prevented by following the law & keeping updated with changes in the Illinois Vehicle Code. The full law regarding electronic communications can be found here.
